Weekly Groups

Weekly groups are at the heart of the JLGB experience. Meeting together every week with friends and trusted adults is what builds the independence and confidence that characterises everyone who's been on the JLGB journey.

There are four age ranges to progress through that match up with your school year so you'll know exactly which one you should join.

Years 3 - 6

Be amazed at what you can do! Get creative. Go on adventures. Make new friends. Have fun and help others. Take the first step on your JLGB journey. This is just the beginning.

Years 7 - 9

Be free to explore, play a new sport, go rock climbing, or learn to dance. You can join a band, make a film, hang out with your friends - what do you want to do? We’ll help you make it happen. Your JLGB journey is shaped by you.

Be confident in yourself. You matter. We'll give you opportunities to learn life skills, get your DofE award, and make a difference in your community, while still having fun with your friends. As you think about what you want to do next after school, at JLGB you can be yourself - your best self!

Be a leader. JLGB believes in young people and the positive difference they can make. On our annual tours and camps, through our leadership training and youth forum you'll have plenty of opportunities to step into your power as a young Jewish leader of tomorrow!

JLGB Virtual

JLGB groups moved online at the start of the coronavirus pandemic and our young leaders were at the heart of making it a huge success with jam-packed programmes, celebrity guests and many inspiring speakers on our Virtual JLGB platform. We continue to run online programmes every Thursday, benefiting those unable to get to groups.

We take pride in our Jewish identity and all our experiences are kosher and Sabbath-friendly, so you can achieve your Duke of Edinburgh’s Award with us, go wild on Spring, Summer and Winter Camps, take trips around the country and tour around Israel or Poland.

eVOLve Awards

Doing good in society is at the heart of the JLGB ethos. We make it possible for you as a young Jewish person to take part and play your part in society. Every day, young people on the JLGB journey are putting smiles on the faces of older people, making their local towns and cities better places to be, supporting refugees and families in poverty, and much more. Volunteering doesn't just look good on your CV - it feels good and does good too. Take a look at all the Awards that you can take part in through JLGB.

Years: 3-6

The Chief Rabbi's Kindness Challenge

The world is built with acts of kindness. Can you meet the challenge and help your family, school and community? To complete the challenge you need to record 15 acts of kindness, with at least three from the family, school and community sections.

Ages: 11-14
Years: 7-9

Yoni Jesner Award

For young people aged 11-14 who want to make a difference in their community, there are three awards: Yoni20, Yoni50 and Yoni100. Delivered through schools, youth groups and synagogues, there's help to find an opportunity or placement and you're supported to complete 20, 50 or 100 hours of volunteering over one or two academic years.

Years: 9-13

The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award

JLGB provides Kosher and Sabbath-friendly Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) provision. The Award encourages young people to volunteer regularly, showing the importance of continuous action. Participants must complete at least 1 hour of volunteering every week to achieve the 3 Award levels: Bronze (3 months), Silver (6 months) and Gold (12 months).

Years: 9-13

OCN Qualifications

Through OCN, JLGB accredits young people in a wide variety of high quality courses, encouraging them to become active leaders. The courses range from teamwork and leadership to organisation skills and awareness of inclusion and disability, to maintaining a healthy lifestyle and how to mentor.

Years: 11-12

National Citizen Service (NCS)

NCS is a two-week programme that takes place in the summer. After an adventure and skills week, young people plan and implement a 30 hour social action project. Meeting the needs of both Kosher and Halal requirements, JLGB runs a faith sensitive version of NCS, which is open to young people of all faiths and none.

Vinspired

JLGB runs a faith-friendly version of this UCAS recognised national volunteering award, for young people aged 16-18. With awards for 10, 50 or 100 hours of volunteering, with a flexible and prestigious award that looks great on your CV. You can volunteer with as many charities or community groups as you like and if you're already running a JLGB group, you can add hours for that too!

ORT JUMP

Through this mentoring programme for Year 12 students, you will be matched with professionals in your chosen work field - a great way to get a head start for the future and JUMP-start on your career through this innovative scheme!
