Louisa Clein is a Television and Theatre Actress, with an illustrious career, and will be best known to many of you for playing twister teacher, Maya Stepney in Emmerdale. 

 

Born in the coastal town of Pool, Louisa is the daughter of a professional violinist. She and her sister Natalie attended Talbott Heath School.  Natalie went on to become a world renowned cellist, and Louisa who wanted to become and actor learnt her craft at the famous Drama Centre, in London, where some of the most famous thespians in the country trained, including Michael Fassbender, Tom Hardy, Paul Bettany, Pierce Brosnan and John Simm.  

 

First appearing on our screens in 2001 aged just 22, she was part of the long running TV series Judge Jonh Deed. Since then, she went on to join well-known TV series' like Holby City, Casualty, New Tricks, Midsomer Murders and Islands at War.  She has also acted in various theatre shows on the Westend and at the Edinburgh film festival. 

 

What you may not know she is best friends with previous JLGB Virtual guest Judge Rob Rinder, who even introduced her to her husband Barrister and writer Jeremy Brier.  And if you didn’t see it last week, you must catch up on iplayer and see Louisa and Rob in a moving documentary My Family, The Holocaust and Me, as they retrace the steps of their families Shoah experience.
