Tonight’s guest, Diana Barran, Baroness Barran, MBE  is a British charity campaigner, former hedge fund manager and Conservative Party life peer. She is the founder of the domestic abuse awareness charity ‘SafeLives’ and served as its chief executive from 2004 to 2017.

In 2018, it was announced that she will be conferred a life peerage and she was created Baroness Barran, of Bathwick in the City of Bath. In July 2019, she was appointed Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for DCMS, better known as the Minister for Civil Society, by Prime Minister Boris Johnson.

The Minister for Civil Society leads on the civil society agenda and is responsible for: the Big Society agenda, National Citizen Service (of which JLGB is proud to run), the government's youth policy, social action, charities, social enterprise, social investment and the loneliness agenda.

It’s not every day you get to interview a government minister, and everyone at JLGB is delighted she is here with us now.  Ladies and gentlemen, I am truly honoured to welcome, our very special guest, the Minister for Civil Society, Baroness Diana Barran.

For 125 years, young Jewish people have been discovering just how brilliant they can be and how they can make the world a better place through JLGB. Whether you're 8 or 18, whatever you want to be, join in and be your best self with us!
